As our hand controls are fitted behind the steering column cowling AND the airbag, this would not cause any concern. But other hand controls have the brake rod fitted in front of this air bag. In the event of the airbag being engaged, the rod could be forced into the drivers legs.
Vehicle manufacturers could be intending to fit knee/leg protection airbags in their vehicles, and rather than disengaging the airbag (obvious answer for many converters), our hand controls will enable you to have this added protection kept intact, and in full working order.
